Letter: Extend gates at LIRR crossings

When will the Long Island Rail Road put a stop to the fatal accidents at crossings [“Crossing cameras,” News, March 22]? All the LIRR has to do is revert to the style of gates it had decades ago. They were long enough to cover both lanes, leaving no room to drive around. Why not extend the existing gates?
