Recent news stories and an editorial ["NYPD wronged Muslims with film," Editorial, Jan. 27] about the showing of "The Third Jihad" to police trainees described the film as insensitive, hurtful, exaggerated and inflammatory. Some people have demanded that the New York Police Department commissioner resign.
Lost in the hysteria is the question of whether there is anything inaccurate or false in this film, or in the earlier film "Obsession," on the same topic, distributed by the same organization.
There are people unhappy with the truth, however unhappiness is no reason that the truth should be untold. Political correctness by Newsday and fawning politicians only assists those seeking the demise of free speech, open discourse and Western Civilization. One need only look at Europe to see where that path will lead us.
