I am surprised that Apple’s lawyers haven’t informed the FBI or the court that the information the FBI seeks can be obtained easily from the National Security Agency [“FBI-Apple encryption case before Congress,” News, March 2].

The FBI has stated that it wants to know with whom Syed Farook communicated from his iPhone. I wonder whether that information can be found in the metadata captured by the NSA for that device.

The NSA’s justification for this intrusion was to protect the American people from bad guys. Well, why haven’t they come forward and provided the FBI with the information? The Senate NSA oversight committee should be asking questions.
