Letter: Supermarket closing leaves no choices

As a resident of Freeport for more than 50 years, I’m angry about the closing of the Stop & Shop supermarket [“Stop & Shop closing Freeport store next month,” Business, Jan. 14]. This leaves my village, with a population of more than 40,000, with just one supermarket!
I have been a Stop & Shop customer since its opening. When I shopped there, it had many customers, and its shelves were well-stocked. It’s easily accessible with ample parking.
I’m tempted to attribute the closing to the fact that Freeport is a diverse village and not because of financial reasons.
