In response to “Not obligated to vote for the woman” [Opinion, March 6], I hope that when columnist Amanda Fiscina is older she doesn’t have to face the discrimination that many women have had to face.

Older workers are discriminated against and sometimes lose their jobs. How many older women broadcasters do you see on television? How many TV anchors are replaced with young, pretty faces while men keep their jobs into old age?

We hear male candidates promise the moon, promises they can never keep. They insult and make rude remarks. Fiscina points out that presidential candidate Hillary Clinton resorted to emoji tweets. This is typical of the double standard applied to women.

Clinton will not be just a symbol of what women can do, but an actual advocate for women. Her candidacy needs no help; she is the most qualified and smartest candidate running, and she can stand on her qualifications alone.
