Letter: Grateful for firefighters

We owe a debt of gratitude to the brave men and women of the Long Island fire departments ["Fire fears," News, April 18]. These selfless people save the lives and property of others while putting themselves in harm's way.
They came from every town to aid in putting out the brush fires.
