Regarding "Elections board boost" [News, Sept. 27], all Long Islanders are concerned about paying higher and higher property taxes. School, library, emergency services and fire department assessments are out of control. As voters, we are asked to go out and vote three or four times a year -- it's crazy! The cost alone for all these elections is outrageous.

A simple solution that would certainly help to control taxes would be to require all voting on the same day: the same day as the November general elections. This could save millions of dollars in the election board budgets across Long Island.

Also, instead of attracting a small percentage of voters, we may have over 50 percent voting on all these tax increases; one thing is for sure, any tax increase would be hard to come by. We can call it our own All Vote Day. I bet the rest of the state and then the country would quickly follow.
