Letter: In accord with Cruz on ‘New York values’

QUOTE 1: "The Democrats are laughing -- because if Republicans join Democrats as the party of amnesty, we will lose."
QUOTE 2: Cruz said he would eliminate five major agencies: "The IRS, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Energy, the Department of Commerce, and HUD -- and then 25 specific programs."
QUOTE 3: "You think defending this nation is expensive? Try not defending it. That's a lot more expensive."
QUOTE 4: Asked whether he would let Bank of America fail if it were on the brink, Cruz said "Yes." Pressed for more detail by moderator Neil Cavuto, Cruz added, "I would not bail them out, but instead of adjusting monetary policy according to whims and getting it wrong over and over again and causing booms and busts, what the Fed should be doing is, number one, keeping our money tied to a stable level of gold, and, number two, serving as a lender of last resort."
QUOTE 5: "I believe that 2016 will be an election like 1980, that we will win by following Reagan's admonition to paint in bold colors, not pale pastels." Credit: Getty Images / Scott Olson
As a lifelong New Yorker, I am not offended by the remarks of Sen. Ted Cruz regarding New Yorkers and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo [“Cruz’s NY bruising,” News, Jan. 16].
I was born and raised by my Irish Catholic parents in Brooklyn. I raised my children on Long Island.
We obey the law, we pay our taxes, we are pro-life, pro-marriage and family and pro-U.S. Constitution, including the Second Amendment. My governor stated that because of these beliefs, there is no place for “extreme conservatives” in the state of New York. Cruz was spot-on.
