Letter: Let donors sponsor Catholic ed.

Ellis Henican's column on tuition aid for Catholic schools was excellent ["Tuition aid plan worth an LI try," News, June 9].
The one area it didn't address is the unfairness of the present system. The burden of higher taxes and tuition is something parents can no longer bear. Parents can no longer afford a Catholic education for their children, and they are forced to withdraw them and put them into a public school that is failing to educate them. This is not true for all schools.
Students shouldn't be made to suffer for life because of a bad education.
Private donations, such as those described in the column, or government tuition assistance should be considered.
