“LIRR third track critical to future” [Editorial, Jan. 6] outlined many plans for Long Island and New York State that could have positive effects.

One that popped out for me was Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo setting aside money to study the possibility of constructing a tunnel for cars and trains from Long Island to Westchester County or Connecticut.

This would be a great investment and it would make it so much more convenient to travel upstate or to New England. This could also help people from eastern Suffolk County travel north to commute to work, ease holiday travel and serve as an emergency route.
