Municipalities should have the right to regulate pet dealers in their communities as long as the regulation is not less stringent than state law. A State Senate bill, S3753, would extend the rights of municipalities to enforce and monitor local regulations in regard to pet dealers.

Retail pet shops, Internet pet sales, backyard breeders and people abandoning their pets all lead to crowded shelters, which are a burden to taxpayers.
