In regard to the letter writer expressing the notion that Nassau County hands out parking and traffic tickets like "Halloween candy" ["Can't afford traffic tickets," Letters, April 5], I would respond that Nassau drivers park their cars like spoiled children.

Parking regulations protect us by keeping sightlines open, bus stops clear and fire hydrants accessible. Selfish drivers who feel entitled to park wherever they please should be ticketed, regardless of their economic means.
