Letter: Mars Curiosity mission too expensive

$2.5 billion to land a vehicle on Mars ["Mission to Mars," News, Aug. 4]. Why?
$2.5 billion would feed and clothe starving people on this planet. This country is trillions of dollars in debt.
Where are our priorities?
Again I ask, why?
