I am writing regarding "New face of LI's homeless" [News, May 7].

More should be done to help people who have to live like this. The rate of homelessness is causing people to lose faith in our economy. How can we improve our economy when people in the United States, supposedly the best country in the world, are without a place to live, and with little or no help from anyone?

The fact that veterans, the people who fight to keep us free and safe, are coming home and have no place to live is extremely disturbing. It isn't fair.
