There are names of politicians on roads, bridges, building and parks, some alive, many dead. Politicians are sometimes charged with corruption and convicted of crimes. None of them have brought joy and happiness to millions like Billy Joel ["Piano Man deserves a street in his name," News column, Aug. 4.]

I have been to Joel concerts, own most of his recordings and have met him at his motorcycle shop. He's just a great guy who's approachable, unlike many people would be in his position.

He's done much, not only in music but also for important issues for New York and Long Island. Naming a road in his honor shouldn't be a debate in Albany; it should just be the right thing to do.
