The tale of the importance of the Narcan opiate overdose kit carries a dark side ["OD antidote a must-have," News, Oct. 2].

As a tool in school nurses' offices, fire departments and other public places, it is indeed a valuable asset in saving lives. What you no doubt will be facing, however, are active drug users carrying the "miracle" kit to permit them to more freely use. Also, these kits will find their way into the hands of drug pushers, who will market them as a safety net.
