Letter: New parking meters are too intrusive

I hope readers of “Not on our time” [News, May 12] recognize that the mayor of Cedarhurst Village has unleashed mass surveillance on his residents with high-tech touch-screen parking meters that take license plate photos and reset to zero when a vehicle leaves its parking spot.
Don’t expect any privacy. Who is using the information being gathered? While technology creeps in to our lives more and more, why invite an intrusive system into our towns?
In the effort to boost parking revenue, we should not penalize ourselves with less privacy.
