In a letter about college debt ["Find an affordable college" Letters, March 29], a writer missed a few essential points.

The State University and City University of New York systems could not absorb even a third of the students in private colleges if those students followed her advice, unless they rejected many of the students that they now have. And private colleges have a significantly higher graduation rate compared to public colleges.

While I congratulate her for having children who were able to navigate their way through SUNY, many capable students get lost in the shuffle there.
