NYC lawmakers are pushing to legalize youth hostels, which were made illegal under a 2010 state law. However, some hostels operate classified as hotels on the city books. Pictured is HI NYC hostel at 891 Amsterdam Ave. on Nov. 23, 2015. Credit: Jeremy Bales
I believe that hostels should be legalized in New York City [“Favor legalizing NYC hostels,” Letters, Dec. 29]. Hostels are beneficial when tourists come to NYC but cannot afford a hotel.
Young people don’t have a lot of money. Hostels could benefit our community.
