Why shouldn’t New York allow open primaries so that people can choose to vote in any party’s primary? This would give a voice to those who register with no party. These “blanks” make up nearly one-third of Long Island voters.

This also would give those of us who don’t like our party’s pick a chance to support the other party’s candidate. Isn’t that what democracy is all about?
