Letter: Opposition to new veterans homes

The fight against this much-needed, affordable apartment complex is ludicrous ["Middle Island: Housing project plan debated," News, March 27]! The developers seek to build 123 units on Middle Country Road, with half dedicated to veterans.
Opponents are worried about the endangered tiger salamander? I believe that housing for our veterans is more important.
No matter what good anyone tries to do, there are always those who oppose it. What a sad state of affairs!
