Letter: Party official is a 'sacrificial lamb'

Let's not fool ourselves and prematurely rejoice that justice has prevailed. Islip Conservative Party chief Michael Torres' arrest on a charge of concealing criminal convictions on a town application form means almost nothing at this point ["Islip Conservative Party leader denies charges," News, Nov. 7]. He is still gainfully employed, receiving two salaries.
He's nothing more than a sacrificial lamb who was ordered to take the heat away from the rest of his fellow travelers, appeasing the more vocal critics of Suffolk's sleazy politics. Think I am wrong? We'll see. Wake me up when he and others of his stripe are actually convicted and sentenced.
Meanwhile, kudos to Newsday for keeping up the pressure to expose the bad activities.
