Another historic moment in our great country, watching the wheels of justice fall off [“Cuomo: Speak up on pensions,” News, Feb. 19]. Crime does pay in New York State.

Former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos will collect a $95,833 pension, and former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver will collect $79,222. That it is possible to collect a pension after a conviction is troubling enough. To actually have to make a law outlawing it is laughable.

What a society — electing people who cannot consistently act on their own, in good conscience, to just do the right thing.
