With a new Brookhaven Town supervisor, and soon a new town highway superintendent, this would be a good time for politicians to show it is not business-as-usual by taking all current officeholders' names off town signage.
Last summer, we had some work done on our curb by town workers. Every piece of equipment, down to the legs and cross piece of the barricade horse, had the highway superintendent's name on it.
It's wrong to engage in such self-promotion on the taxpayers' dime. I wrote to my legislator about this practice, but I have not heard back.
