As chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) is certainly adamant regarding the alleged misconduct of U.S. Secret Service staff in Colombia and whether classified information or federal property were compromised ["Calling for answers," News, April 23]. He insists on a probe "to get as full a picture as possible . . . to minimize the chances" of such a possible breach of security from occurring again.

Although he was not committee chairman at the time, I am curious about whether King expressed such dire concern when top operatives in the Bush administration outed CIA agent Valerie Plame, compromising her covert status. Even though the damage from Plame's outing, in retrospect, might have been minimal, there is still a nagging double standard in King's crusade for answers.
