Letter: 'Pre-born' are also rape victims

With respect to "Idiotic notions about rape" [Editorial, Aug. 21], it is most pitiful that the true victims of rape are the woman and the pre-born.

The rapist very often goes scot-free. Six major studies over 30 years have shown that the outcome of 155,000 rapes has been 1,238 pregnancies, or about a half of 1 percent. See "The Facts of Life" by Brian Clowes of Human Life International, a pro-life organization.

Sad fully, it is these hard cases of rape that tear at our heart strings. How we handle the innocent victims of rape requires the best that is in us.
