Letter: Presenting ID for all the wrong reasons

I had a disturbing experience at the state Department of Motor Vehicles when renewing the registration for my classic car. I provided my Florida driver's license to the clerk but was advised that I needed to produce three additional forms of identification.
Four pieces of ID to re-register a car, and none to cast a ballot? One would think that supplying ID for exercising your right to vote would be more important. Sadly, that's apparently not the case in New York.
