Letter: President commands forces, not populace

Too frequently people refer to the president as "my" or "our" commander in chief ["Hawks should think about lives risked," Letters, Feb. 25].
The Constitution makes the president commander in chief of the armed forces, not of the civilian population. That would be a military dictatorship.
This is a potentially dangerous misapprehension.
