Letter: Queen has earned the celebration

I think the churlish attitude about the "onslaught" of media coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's 60th anniversary celebration is regrettable ["Queen's gala is over the top," Letters, June 8]. After all, viewing the events was strictly voluntary.
Although I am proud my ancestor fought in the American Revolution, I would have enjoyed seeing more extensive TV coverage of the 60th anniversary celebration.
