The FAA's decision to keep a controversial helicopter route along the North Shore active until August 2020 has upset East End residents and politicians who want the route altered.

Our military helicopters have the ability to run quietly and reduce the noise created by the blades [“Officials urge chopper protest,” News, Aug. 23].

The civilian helicopter services should be encouraged to use the same technology, so they are less likely to be so annoying to residents on the East End.
