Letter: Raising money for school trips

I do not want to sound like a Grinch, but I would like to know if my school taxes were paying for the Howard T. Herber Middle School's sixth-grade field trip to the upstate Frost Valley YMCA in past years ["Actor helps raise fund for school trip," News, March 21].
I think it was great that Tony Danza raised money for the trip this year. Trips like this should be paid by the parents or with private funds, not with my tax money.
