Amid all the criticism about Long Island Power Authority's performance, it is important to differentiate between the poor job being done by LIPA's management and the excellent job the linemen are doing to restore our power.

Recently, I stopped to tell four LIPA linemen, while they were working on another issue, about a large tree that had fallen on a power line a few blocks away. The next windy gust threatened to bring a dangerous wire down onto a busy street. What did the LIPA workers do? They promptly went and cut it down.

So, here's a thumbs up for a job well done!
