I am saddened by presidential candidate Mitt Romney's dismissive apology regarding what he calls high school pranks ["Putting the pol in apologies," News, May 13].

Holding someone down against his will and cutting his hair is more of an assault than a prank. Romney's dismissive attitude makes me wonder if he is aware of the battle against bullying and the strides made in recent years.

Bullying can have lasting effects on an individual. This is not about the sexual orientation of those he may have played "pranks" on. It is about the character of a person who believes he has a right to victimize another human and call it a prank.
