Letter: Saddened by reaction to border kids

When I first read the news that Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Commack had offered to house immigrant children, I found it refreshing that there were at least isolated pockets of Christianity here and there ["Outrage over kids plan," News, Aug. 20].
Now they have abandoned their plan. Apparently, those isolated pockets are more rare than I first thought.
