Letter: Save inpatient care in Glen Cove
It's a sad state of affairs when a city with a population of 27,000 people cannot afford a hospital ["Suozzi joins call to save hospital," News, Aug. 20]. It makes one wonder about the health care in our country.
Not only would we be losing much-needed inpatient care if the Glen Cove Hospital closes, we would be losing well-qualified doctors and surgeons.
North Shore-LIJ officials announced the decision without our elected officials or residents being duly notified. This not only affects Glen Cove but also the surrounding communities.
I am asking that this decision be overturned.
