Letter: School district right to be cautious

I watched a news report about a sword-wielding man entering a store on Fifth Avenue in the afternoon [“NYPD: Cops arrest man waving samurai sword inside Manhattan Apple store,” News, Nov. 20].
Where were all the officers that New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton reported were on the watch in the city?
This reaffirmed my belief that the Connetquot school district did the right thing by canceling field trips to New York City [“LI school district drops NYC, D.C. trips,” News, Nov. 20].
