I’m writing to express my outrage over the Nassau County Legislature’s approval of a $500,000 borrowing bill to provide lighting for the athletic fields at Berner Middle School in Massapequa, as well as another $10,000 for wrestling mats for the Lynbrook school district [“Nassau Democrats back $500G in borrowing,” News, Oct. 6]. This is ludicrous!
Each of these entities has the ability to raise money through the tax levy or bonding authority of the local school district. I fail to see how these qualify as community revitalization projects. Instead, I see a fleecing of the taxpayers of Nassau County.
