There is much focus on sexual harassment and assaults in the military ["Fight on her hands," News, Nov. 13]. The military is spending an inordinate amount of time, energy and money trying to put an end to this problem.

Unfortunately, the real issue, which is not being addressed, is the destruction of the once-greatest military ever. The introduction of a greater role for women in the military has created sexual tensions among the soldiers: pregnancies, charges of harassment both real and imagined, rape, and the destruction of marriages due to infidelities.

Maybe once we get a grip on these problems, we can get back to basics, which is to have a fighting force that can win battles and wars.
