Letter: Social media drum up fake controversies

People are taking to social media to show their frustration with the design of the new Starbucks holiday cup with #MerryChristmasStarbucks. Credit: Starbucks
This is what is wrong with social media. To say that the red scarf on the Starbucks cookie polar bear resembles blood and not a scarf is thoroughly ridiculous.
What is also wrong is news outlets reporting the story and giving credence to these Internet trolls.
