The contested election for new leadership at the Suffolk County Planning Commission does not change the commission’s united recognition of its primary mission or support of Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone’s economic program [“Casey on planning panel,” News, Feb. 11].

The members stand united with Bellone on the fundamental issues facing Suffolk County: to promote economic growth, increase rental housing, keep our young people on Long Island, redevelop our aging downtowns, create transit-oriented development, support for industry and agriculture, and promote transformative projects such as the Ronkonkoma Hub and Wyandanch Rising.
