Letter: Support Long Island’s small businesses
Why not continue participating beyond the annual national Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving [“Keeping shopping local,” Business, Nov. 22]?
Shop locally as often as you can during the other 364 days a year. Skip the chain stores’ Black Friday madness.
Some stores have put aside financial motives to allow employees to stay home with family. Stay home and enjoy your Thanksgiving meal with friends and family, then support small businesses.
These are our neighbors. They work long hours, pay taxes and provide local jobs. If we don’t patronize our local stores and restaurants, their proprietors don’t eat, either.
