Again our nation mourns the loss of innocent victims gunned down for no apparent reason [“San Bernardino shooting,” News, Dec. 10].

Each time, people cry for more gun control. But if someone wants a gun badly enough, he or she knows how to get one. If anyone under attack in San Bernardino, California, had a gun, he or she could have retaliated and saved lives.

Per our Constitution, a civilian has the right to bear arms to protect what is his. Terrorism and acts of violence are rarely stopped by peaceful methods. The ongoing turbulence is not going to be controlled by banning guns.

The gun control that should be enacted is to outlaw civilians from purchasing semi-automatic weapons of any kind.
