Reading "Spotlighting how a mom does it . . . all" [Business, Sept. 16] made me laugh out loud. Being a working mom coming off the most difficult budget season of my career, I headed to Austin, Texas, to spend some quality time with my 22-year-old daughter. The only day off I've had in the last month was courtesy of Tropical Storm Irene.

Exhausted, I prepared to leave, but it was not long before the working-mommy guilt set in, as I left my 17-year-old son at home. As I prepared for my trip, I made sure I had four days of meals ready and four days of clean clothes set aside for my son.

At the airport I sent desperate, guilty texts to his father to take good care of our son as I headed off to see our daughter. In addition to the texts, I sent several last-minute work emails. Stressed, I finally tried to relax in my seat aboard the airplane, and happened to come across this article.

I began to chuckle about my memory of working late and being frantic about my daughter's birthday celebration at school the next day (similar to the Kate Reddy character's experience). I was so tired that instead of baking, I decided to frost store-bought packaged cupcakes (Yankee Doodles). To this day, my daughter talks of what a hit they were, and how all the kids marveled at how her birthday cupcakes had a yummy cream filling!

So working moms, stress not. If all else fails, opt for the Dunkin' Donuts -- but get yourself a coffee, too. You deserve it.
