Letter: Too much power for Island's police

I am becoming fearful of Long Island's police ["Precinct plan spurs critics' ad campaign," News, Feb. 19].
Simply put, our police seem to now live "on top of the hill" and not with the majority of the population.
I am fearful that our elected officials no longer control our police departments, and the police only will be reporting to themselves and their elected union bosses.
