Letter: Tracking Muslim students worrisome
Newsday reported that the New York City Police Department monitored Muslim students in an effort to take precautions against terrorism ["Rally for NYPD," News, March 5]. I feel it is in direct violation of the First Amendment for police to specifically record the amount of time the students were observed praying. What is next? Will prayer, too, become a criminal terrorist activity?
The First Amendment states that Congress shall pass no law in respect to the establishment of religion, or restrict the free practice thereof.
