Letter: Traveling cats should be in carriers

The cat that broke free and delayed more than 80 subway trains on July 22 should have been in a carrier, not on a leash ["Scared cat on tracks rescued," News, July 24].
The owner put the cat at great risk of getting away or worse, being killed by a train or traffic, not to mention inconveniencing thousands of people. I sincerely hope this is a lesson to all pet owners.
