I would have ignored a letter saying that Donald Trump exhibits traits consistent with narcissistic personality disorder had the writer not identified himself as a psychologist and therapist [“Trump candidacy fuels division,” Letters, Aug. 21].

Psychologists should know that diagnoses are based on reliable and valid psychological tests, not on opinions driven by personal or political views. The writer seems to base his “professional” opinion on viewing TV appearances.
