Letter: Trump’s negatives could hurt the GOP

Having been a Republican since Ronald Reagan’s first term, I’m embarrassed but not shocked that the establishment bosses of the Republican Party in Nassau and Suffolk chose to endorse Donald Trump [“Trump to headline Suffolk fundraiser,” News, April 8].
The Associated Press reported that its poll showed Trump attained a record unfavorability rating of 69 percent [“Up close and personal, so different,” Opinion, April 13].
If he is the Republican Party’s nominee, I fear that not only will he lose the general election, but he also will take down many Republican incumbents with him.
