The news story “Bringing NYPD to life on TV” [News, Sept. 30] explains the efforts the CBS-TV show “Blue Bloods” takes to maintain authenticity. Yet, actor Tom Selleck is often featured wearing a police uniform with four stars. In real life, the NYPD commissioner is a nonuniformed civilian. I can certainly understand this is poetic license, but it is a major gaffe in terms of authenticity.
