Letter: University salaries pump up tuition

With private university presidents making as much as $3 million a year, including two on Long Island bringing in more than $1 million annually, it's no wonder that tuition is out of reach for so many in this country ["$1 million salaries at LI colleges," News, Dec. 10].
Exorbitant salaries such as these tend to reinforce the status quo of inequality that this nation is saddled with: a land of elitist haves and masses of have-nots. Universities tend to perpetuate socioeconomic injustices.
The greed is appalling.
